This past weekend a few of us headed up to Goat Island to go snorkel (this place is known for it)!! The first night we stayed at a regional park to sleep. By the way, you need a permit to camp and or sleep there but we roughed it and didn’t buy one, hehe. Two of us slept in Eno’s and it was stellar having the stars be above us lighting the night sky up. Early morning the next day, we swiftly headed to Goat Island, with high expectations in mind but it was a bit cloudy so I was a bit bummed, however, never have I been snorkelling before SO, I had the time of my life. Despite the weather, it was incredible since you’re essentially breathing underwater and swimming with all the fishies. Being in open water, I was anticipating a shark… yah, they never showed up, unfortunately. It’s still surreal though being able to explore the sea and knowing we have only discovered a small percentage of it. There’s a whole other world under the sea and we have no clue about it.
This place is the perfect weekend getaway. You will most likely spend all day in the water and explore the island that is across the water from the beach, make sure you have heaps of water, food, wine and sunscreen!!
Fun fact, I wanted to become a marine biologist/environmentalist. The ocean and earth are bloody fascinating.
